The Trip, Continued
We arrived in Tulsa, pulled off the Interstate and began the tormenting experience of what we nick named the "Thermal Nuclear Meltdown" in Tulsa. The venue parking at Tulsa was way too small for the number of participants and the resulting traffic was backed up from Riverside Drive to the Cityplex. My Chevelle was A-Okay with my new cooling system. It was rock solid at 170 degrees on the temp gauge, I couldn't believe it. There were many poor dudes with beautiful rides that were overheating and puking green stuff on the asphalt. It was way, way ugly. We finally got to park in the overflow parking lot and we took in the sights. We took very cool pics of the venue in the mirrored glass of the Cityplex building (so did all the popular car rags!). We watched Christopher Titus driving his "Jester" pull in and park. We then boogied back to the hotel. Dave and I left big rubber and tire smoke was everywhere as we were leaving the parking lot, I was just following Dave's lead, I swear!
 
 
 
 
We made it back to the Fairfield Inn, and WOW, there was an Outback Steak house right there in the parking lot. That made the "whats for dinner?" an easy decision. We were so HOT and TIRED! We met the girls and walked over to the restaurant. When we got seated Dave ordered "A glass of Ice'd Tea big enough I can swim in" and he really freaked out our waitress, you had to be there, it was way comical. She had a great sense of humor though and took it well. The gang dinned on Steak, Shrimp, Lobster, Chicken, Fish and of course a "Bloomin' Onion." We all ate way too much and settled in for the night.
